Evaluation

Question 1.
Embedded below is a Prezi presentation by Faye Curry.
Question 2.
Embedded below is a paragraph by Faye Curry.
The social group that is mainly focused upon in our horror movie opening is adolescent girls.
We have followed a very stereotypical route when we have presented them in our film. The idea of a damsel in distress have been played upon the most. We have a teen girl who is in a desolate forest on her own and appears to be on edge. She is constantly turning and checking to see if someone is following her. The reason we used this was to keep our horror movie conventional. She is portrayed to be helpless and vulnerable. Additionally we were also representing the youth as unwise , while watching the film the audience would be questioning the characters motives as why would a wise individual enter a forest alone? This builds on a popular idea that adolescents are quite irresponsible.

Then embedded below, I have taken screen shots of how The film 'The Ring' has influenced our choices when creating our music video. From these screen shots we have taken tips on editing , the location used and the actors in our movie. The first pictures shows how Dreamworks used editing to achieve the horror genre. They applied effect of a fuzzy TV to their ident and we decided to use this in our horror movie. In the second picture it shows the use of the Fuzzy Tv effect on Final cut pro whenever the Ghost of Kayleigh's past appears on the screen. Secondly our location was influenced by the ring as it starts in a desolate house in the woods. Within our horror movie , our main actress is drawn towards an empty building in the woods. This location is very convention within the horror movie genre. Lastly within 'The Ring" two adolescent girls are shown at the start and our horror movie is based around two teenage girls. From this we have decided to stick with the convention of having a typical damsel in distress.

I created this health and safety form, to make our group consider the dangers of filming on an unknown outdoor location. It was neccersary to consider all the aspects above to ensure that our group would be safe while filming and we would be aware of what dangers could occur and we was ready to react responsibly to them.

Costume

For our costumes we had to think about what costumes would best suit our characters and represent their personalities best so we decided for my character Kayleigh that i would wear everyday clothing to try and justify that this was a real life situation, However we had her in light clothing to give her the feel off innocents to make her seem vunerable, but also had the dog as a prop for her to almost make it seem as if she has a form of protection. We then had Georgia's charecter Clara who was the dead friend dressed all in black and a white face to emphasis that she was dead, also being dressed in all black connotes her being a dark shadow that follows Kayleigh around this contradicts Kayleigh's out fit of innocence and displays that she has a dark past that she is trying to hide.

Location Shots

Embedded below is a slideshow created using Animoto to present our location shots from Bentley Priory Location, where we filmed the main parts of our horror movie.

This location worked well for our theme of a horror film because we had the traditional eery atmosphere created from being in woods and we also found a small dark hut that we used in our movie, these where effective because it reiterates the typical conventions of horror movies where the victim is isolated with no where else to run to. Overall this location was effective for our horror movie, it gave us the outcome that we wanted which was a scary, creepy place for a young girl to be on her own, which helps to build up the tension of the opening, an area like a forrest also gives spaces for the protaganists to hide like behind trees, this could give the audience the feel that they are being watched this is the perfect feel for and opening of a horror movie.
